“Go placidly amid the noise and haste and remember what peace there may be in silence.” Max Ehrmann
We live in a noisy time. Surrounded by the outer noise of our media-filled world and the inner noise of out chattering mind, we can barely hear ourselves think. This is on top of a culture that rewards us for getting one more thing done. In speeding through the day on auto-pilot, we lose touch with that which brings peace, that which brings ease.
Mindfulness, or the mental discipline of tuning out the static and tuning into the present moment, helps pave the way toward a clearer, more insightful path. It is a life-engaging tool for understanding how to:
- balance productivity with self-care
- skillfully untangle problems
- live with greater steadiness and focus
